One big problem with having many double passes in a pattern is, that it becomes very hard (compared to single passes) to see how your pass arrives, because you are looking upwards for the double passes you receive.

Similar to the selfless passing with single passes, one can create a series of patterns with double passes but without selfs. Because the higher difference between a zip and a double pass, we need period 7 patterns to be able to trade a double pass with a zip:

So here we start with patterns in which one side throws single passes while the other throws double passes.

Doubles in Well-Known Base Patterns
